Religious Studies

In a world of fascinating social, political and cultural diversity the study of Religion remains as relevant as ever. Clifton College is an international community in which all of the major World Religions are represented. The Religious Studies Department seeks to inspire and motivate pupils to tackle challenging questions and explore different faiths, cultures and people across the globe.

Resources

The R.S. Department provides a variety of textbooks and video tapes needed by the pupils in their studies. There is a Departmental library to supplement the excellent books, periodicals and ICT resources provided by the Percival Library Learning Centre. Clifton's Chapel also provides a valuable resource for research about the liturgy, symbolism and festivals of Christianity.

The Philosophy of Religious Studies

Religious Studies at Clifton is non-confessional. It does not explicitly aim to nurture religious belief in any particular tradition. The subject is taught in an open, investigative way which encourages objective analysis and evaluation regardless of a student's individual views on faith.
