Russian
Clifton is delighted to be able to offer Russian as an interest subject to the Sixth Form following the appointment in September 2006 of Mr Simon Heard. Pupils may now
study the language, history, culture, and literature over a one or two year period and choose whether to sit a GCSE exam.
There are currently five members of the Sixth Form studying as well as more than a dozen Russians who will be sitting GCSE, AS or A2 in the summer.
It is a thriving department and has an exciting future here at Clifton. This year, amongst other events, will see the presentation of Russian films, and a charity evening
of Russian food and music, organised by the newly formed Russian society (led by the native Russians of the Upper Sixth).
Following a very successful trip to Russia in October 2006, Mr Heard is also planning to take another group of pupils to see the magnificent cities of St Petersburg and
Moscow in October 2007.
For a chance to unravel the "riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma" (Winston Churchill) that was, and still is, Russia, you need look no further. The answers are
here at Clifton College!
