The Dyffryn Trip
The German Department runs an annual ‘Dyffryn trip’ - a weekend of German culture and intensive spoken German for Germanists and native speakers of German in a truly
idyllic setting in Wales!
Clifton College’s remote cottage in the Brecon Beacons becomes our German retreat and witnesses Germanists marching off on ‘Wanderungen,’ cooking and eating together
and singing Lieder (you have never heard ‘Das Wandern ist des Müllers Lust’ sung quite in this way!)
Evenings are invariably spent in front of a blazing fire performing sketches, doing quizzes or reading Brüder Grimm Märchen.
