What is ECDL?
During Year 7 and 8 we complete three modules of the internationally acclaimed ECDL/ICDL qualification. Passing the exams will give you a British Computer Society (BCS)
Level 1 certificate.
The European/International Computer Driving Licence ® (ECDL/ICDL) is the internationally recognized qualification which enables people to demonstrate their competence
in computer skills.
ECDL/ICDL is designed specifically for those who wish to gain a benchmark qualification in computing to enable them to develop their IT skills.
Some of the benefits are:

Tell me more about ECDL/ICDL
There are 7 Modules in the full ECDL. We complete three of these and you can go on to finish the others in Bristol.
Module 1 – Concepts of Information Technology (IT)
You will learn about the make-up of a personal computer in terms of hardware and software and understand some of the concepts of Information Technology (IT) such as
data storage and memory. You will learn how information networks are used within computing and be aware of the uses of computer-based software applications in everyday l
ife. We will learn about health and safety issues as well as some environmental factors involved in using computers. You will also be made aware of some of the important
security and legal issues associated with using computers.
Module 2 – Using the Computer and Managing Files
You will learn how to change settings on your PC and work within the Windows environment; moving and renaming icons, changing the appearance of the desktop and using
Task Manager to shut down programs or find out your system information. You will be able to manage and organize files and folders, and know how to copy, move, delete,
compress and extract files. You will also understand what a computer virus is and how to use anti-virus software. We will also learn how to edit files and manage print
jobs.
