Clifton wins the Willoughby Shield

Well done to our U16 (Colts) who won the Willoughby Shield at Blundells on Sunday 9th March.

The group results were as follows:

Won v Healthfield, 6 tries to 1
Won v Truro, 3-2
Won v Kings Worcester, 4 tries to 1
Won v Bryanston, 7 tries to nil
Won v Plymouth, 6 tries to nil
Lost v Blundells, 4 tries to nil

Despite the loss against Blundells the squad won their group easily on tries scored. This put them into the final against the other group winners, Millfield, who had beaten schools such as Sherbourne and King's Taunton to win their group.

Clifton won the final 3 tries to 0 to break Millfield's strangle-hold on the trophy over the last few years.

Squad names: Nick Williams (Capt), Yannick Budd, George Cryer, Jonny Mitchell, Henry Amor, Matt Coveney, Josh Barnes, Ben Sellick, Christian Walters, Matthew Cornish, James Laycock.

All squad members contributed on the scoresheet, but Matthew Cornish was particularly prolific.
