First prize for Olivia

During the half term break some of Clifton College''s artists took part in the Senior Schools Art Competition at Bristol Cathedral. This is an annual event which is sponsored by Bristol Fine Arts to encourage and promote excellence in the Fine Arts among young people.

Students from 22 Bristol schools took part in the competition and the works were judged by members of the Royal West of England Academy and The Bristol Savages Art Society.

The work produced by students for this exhibition is to a very high standard and we are delighted to announce that Olivia Robinson of the Upper Sixth was awarded the first prize for a work produced by a female student for her figure composition in oils.

Samantha Bracey of the Upper Sixth was highly commended for her three dimensional perspective painting of an imaginary cityscape and Ed Bourns, also of the Upper Sixth was commended for his etching of the horse statues in Saint Marks Square in Venice.

Well done to all three students!
