Butcombe Music Tuition

Individual Instrumental Music Tuition

In Butcombe, all pupils have weekly class music lessons. All pupils in Years 2 & 3 learn the recorder as part of the music curriculum, at no extra cost apart from that of the recorder and music, as required. From Year 2, pupils may learn other instruments (i.e. piano, keyboard, violin, cello, trumpet, flute guitar and drums) These lessons are taken by the peripatetic staff, arranged by the Director of Music in the Preparatory School, Mr David Crabtree. Music lessons are £19.00 per lesson for a series of 30 minute lessons. At the discretion of the teacher, pupils may be taught in pairs. If you would like to hire an instrument, a charge of £80.00 per term will be made

It is usually possible to arrange instrumental lessons for Year 2 & 3 pupils, but occasionally it is necessary to place children's names on a waiting list if an instrument is in particular demand.

ENQUIRIES ABOUT INSTRUMENTAL LESSONS SHOULD BE MADE TO EITHER MR DAVID CRABTREE, DIRECTOR OF MUSIC, THE PREPARATORY SCHOOL. TEL: 0117 3157 502 ext 544, OR ANNABEL PURNELL, SECRETARY TO THE HEADMISTRESS OF BUTCOMBE.

Notice to cease formal tuition should be given in writing to the Director of Music before the end of term; it is regretted that failure to do so will require a charge of a full term's lessons in lieu.

Instrument hire is available for beginners on all instruments, apart from the piano, keyboard, percussion and drum kit.

Before making any decisions regarding individual instrumental tuition, parents should consider the following:-

Pupils are expected to practise their instruments regularly, and it is hoped that parents will encourage practise at home.
